Death of a prototype

E-mail from Svein D. Henriksen, former director of Hydra Tidal

Our prototype actually succeeded technically, when electricity was supplied to the grid, but it’s a special relationship who would break the best technology. It is extremely bad weather and high waves. It must not forget; the equipment being installed, commissioned and maintained. And it must necessarily be made afloat for technologies that floats submerged in operation. That was what happened with Morild. Twice we got hurricane wind speed, and thus fatigue in steel structure.
Moskenesstraumen is interesting, but with my knowledge today I would not recommend withdrawing green energy in this area. It’s too dramatic.
